Felicia Hardy was the only child born to a wealthy family in Queens. Her father was a traveling salesman who was often gone. Her mother, Lydia, had a larger hand in raising her. Lydia pushed Felicia in academics and extracurriculars. She excelled especially in gymnastics. At 13, she was told that her father died. It was then that Felicia learned that her father was secretly a cat burglar. After being mugged, she became interested in his career. She trained in martial arts and learned burglary skills like lock-picking and safe-cracking.

When Felicia was a freshman in college, she was raped by her boyfriend. She swore to kill him and learned assassination skills to add to her already impressive repertoire. (Un?)fortunately, her rapist died in a car accident before she had the chance to murder him. Since she was denied her vengeance, she decided to follow in her dad’s footsteps and become a thief.

She later learned that her dad was, in fact, not dead but was dying in a jail cell and decided to break him out. In the process of doing so, she met (and fought with) Spider-Man. Even though they were enemies, she felt a bond between them. They met and fought some more, developing a relationship. Spider-Man eventually revealed his true identity to her, but she found out that although she was totally hot for Spidey, she wasn’t really attracted to Peter Parker. After Spider-Man was nearly killed while the two were fighting an enemy, Felicia realized that her powerless status could be a liability. A mysterious stranger (later revealed to be Kingpin) helped her to access a latent mutant gene that allowed her to affect probability. This allowed her to inflict bad luck on others and also to live up to her moniker. She decided to end her relationship with Peter after realizing her powers are dangerous to him. Peter beat her to the punch, however, and told her he couldn’t handle the fact that she only cared for his super identity. Felicia wasn’t too happy about this. She entered into a few different relationships just to make Peter jealous. After Peter started dating Mary Jane in earnest, Felicia began to threaten her. She eventually got over all that and even became friends with MJ.

Felicia became a private investigator and appeared to go legit for a while. She’s back to her old ways now, however (or seems to be).
