Crystalia Amaquelin is a member of the Inhuman Royal Family, along with her older sister Medusalith. The Inhumans were the result of a Kree experiment: splicing Cro-Magnon DNA with that of the Eternals. The Kree abandoned the experiment and the Inhumans went off to create their own society. Like all the other Inhumans, Crystal was exposed to the Terrigen Mist, which gave her super-powers; specifically, control over the four major elements.

Crystal was initially introduced as a love interest for the Human Torch. They met when she was in New York searching for her sister who had, in good comic book/soap opera fashion, lost her memory. Both being young, attractive, and chock full o’ hormones, they soon began a relationship. Crystal’s family wasn’t too keen on her dating a human boy of course, but they allowed her to stay on Earth with him while their city was being rebuilt. When Sue Richards got pregnant with Franklin, Crystal stepped in to fill her place. Unfortunately, it was eventually discovered that pollutants in Earth’s atmosphere were slowly killing her. If she didn’t want to die, she had to go back home. On the way back home, she met Quicksilver and they fell in love. They married and had a baby girl named Luna. Even though both of her parents have powers, Luna was born without them. Crystal and Pietro have a rather tumultuous relationship thanks to his temper and her affinity for other men. After several separations and reconciliations, Crystal had the marriage annulled after Pietro kidnapped Luna and exposed her to the Terrigen Mist without Crystal’s permission.

When Skrulls invaded the Inhumans’ home, they fled to Kree territory for protection. When they sought an alliance, Ronan the Accuser agreed if Crystal would marry him. She agreed. Their wedding was attacked and Ronana was seriously injured along with many other Kree. Crystal showed compassion to the injured Kree. Her actions were broadcast and she won the approval of the Kree people. While Ronan was healing, they developed real feelings for each other. When the Inhumans decided to leave the Kree, Crystal was given the choice to come with them or remain with her husband. She chose Ronan.
